Quick Wins Specialty CSD Work Package

This specialty clinical system design (CSD) work package gathers supports for Specialty Workgroups guiding the initial customization of the Connect Care clinical information system (CIS), focusing on a set of early "Quick Win" activities. The associated tasks focus on preference-list customizations for: Reason for Visit, Problem List, Visit Diagnosis and Professional Billing Codes.

Objectives

This following questions need to be addressed as part of this work package:

  1. How should common "Reason for Visit" Speed Buttons be customized for your specialty?

  2. How should the "Problem List" be customized for your specialty?

  3. How should common "Visit Diagnosis" Speed Buttons be customized for your specialty?

  4. How should common "Service Billing Codes" be customized for your specialty?

  5. How should common "Procedure Billing Codes" be customized for your specialty?

Tasks

  • Area Council Support Unit (ACSU) work with Area Council and/or Specialty Workgroup leads to determine whether the 5 Quick-Win questions will be answered by a small group and validated by the larger group, or whether one or more sessions need to be schedule. Note 2-3 week max timeline.

  • ACSU analyst and/or Epic rep pull from resources examples of specialty speed buttons for reason for visit, problem list and visit diagnosis; with Foundation as main source since this feature was little used in eCLINICIAN.

  • ACSU prepare draft top-15 speed button choices for reason for visit, problem list and visit diagnosis specialty preferences, with extra 10 options to facilitate discussion about choices. Assemble data about AHS experience to date.

  • Identify Area Council, Workgroup and/or possibly additional subject matter experts to propose top 15 (with another 10 buffer) professional billing codes for services and procedures in outpatient and inpatient contexts.

  • Customize presentation materials in preparation for online meeting of Area Council and/or Specialty Workgroup.

  • Schedule Area Council or Workgroup meeting to validate all choices. Note that the specialty filtering work should be done and shared ahead of time.

  • Communicate specialty preferences (reason for visit, problem list, visit diagnosis, professional billing codes) to CCC CSU.
